Dear Laura,
I wanted to let you know how much Stephen meant to me. I worked with him from the start of Politico — he was a good friend and colleague. My daughter is a similar age to yours, so we would have long chats about them, and also reminisce about our times as foreign correspondents.

Stephen believed in me based on a hunch and that impacted my life in such a positive way. I’ll miss him so much.

On behalf of the Europanetzwerk Deutsch (Goethe Institut Brüssel), we would like to express our deep sorrow and condolences to the family and friends of Stephen Brown. His early death affects us very much. We will all miss his important work as a journalist and critical voice in public life.

I am sending my deep condolences on Stephen Brown's passing. I had the pleasure to meet him in my German classes where it became very quickly evident what a fine, and inspiring man he was! My thoughts go to his family. I wish you strength in such difficult times.

Such sad news. Steve was one of the funniest and most generous people that I knew, with a rare gift to light up a room or to bring a new twist to any conversation, My condolences to all the family.
